.... That is generally liked by most people and should be on a top 10 movies of all time list? I think Spaceballs should be, but honestly, I don’t know.
Blazing Saddles is also a good one.

Mel Brooks probably needs his own list

Arsenic and Old Lace. Maybe.

spaceballs was good, but it can’t hold a candle to Young Frankenstein or blazing saddles.

I don’t know about top 10 of all time, but if we’re talking top 10 funny movies, then sure. I really enjoy this movie but my top 10 movies tend to be more serious, maybe because making me feel a range of emotion is more difficult than just straight-up laughter.
That’s my opinion on it, but in any case, top 10 movie lists are kind of pointless and really just opinion pieces, right?

Mainly for this scene alone

The Naked Gun Series is awesome. Anything with Leslie Neilson is awesome (except Super Hero Movie, I think he was too senile to know what he was doing by then).

Clerks, Boondock Saints, and BTTF (the first one) probably

I find myself saying “keep firing, Assholes!” quite a lot when playing RTS games.

Agreed. It came off way more cheesy (in a bad way)than those other two.

Blazing Saddles is one my all time favorite films, but I just don’t like the way Brooks ended it. It’s as if he said, “Well, time’s up and we’re out of money. How can we wrap this up quickly?” One of my favorite lines:
Richard Pryor was originally cast to be Sheriff Bart, but I think Cleavon Little was by far a better casting choice.

The first Godfather’s an obvious one, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, maybe a Tarantino movie or three.

Redline . Take 1 part Wacky Racers, 1 part EVERYTHING DRAWN BY HAND THAT TOOK 7 YEARS , 1 part Star Wars, and 1 part Heavy Metal (1981) to get this amazing anime movie about racing. Not to be confused with that shitty live-action movie that caused Quick Loan Funding to go bankrupt.

I just watched it again 2 nights ago on a tiny laptop in a tent
Still just as funny. I like the ending, the diagetic breaking of the 4th wall deal was relatively fresh when it was made and I think it was done pretty well.

True Lies. Great casting and the right amount of tongue in cheek. I find myself watching it whenever it comes on.
Young Frankenstein is the best Mel Brooks film. I play the med school class demo scene in my Neuroscience class.

Bart taking himself hostage remains probably my favorite overall. Surreal, snappy, a well-done scenery chewing of two stereotypes at the same time, and utterly hysterical.

Redline is definitely under-appreciated.

Excuse me, while I whip this out.
So, is it, twoo what they say about you people? Zzzzzip. It
is
twoo, it
is
twoo!
Please, baby, I am not from Havana!
Somebody go back and get a shitload of dimes!
Work work work. Work work work. Hello, boys. Have a good night? I missed you.
I could go on all day....

It’s all down to opinion. One of my favorite movies of all time is Reservoir Dogs. Other people don’t understand it at all.

I saw a commentary with Mel that mentioned there’s a missing line after “it’s twoo, it’s twoo” that was cut/not filmed. “I hate to disappoint you, baby, but you’re sucking on my arm.” O_O
I’ve been known to employ Gov.
LePetomane
references before, and “work work work, work work work, hello boys” is so very useful.

Blade Runner. Hands down. The amount of media it has inspired since its birth is probably incalculable. And it helped to inspire my all-time favorite anime; Ghost in the Shell.

That’s funny as shit! I’m still laughing.

Also, thanks for the link. I had no idea GOV’s name had a perfectly perfect backstory.

Whenever Mel isn’t being obvious, he’s being very, very sneaky.

I took my brother’s phone, downloaded a ringtone, set it to my custom tone and waited. He went back to school and was studying in the library when I called and his phone started blaring “WHERE ALL THE WHITE WOMEN AT?” over and over again.
He eventually called me back later just to say “well played.”
